The papers include correspondence, crew lists, diaries, program plans, and other papers documenting Marjorie Louise Henry's experiences as sea-going technician and data researcher on D/V Glomar Challenger, a drilling vessel operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego during the Deep Sea Drilling Project. These papers document her experiences as a member of the crew. As early as 1957 earth scientists discussed the possiblity of drilling a hole through oceanic crust to the Mohorovicic discontinuity. Marjorie Louise Henry was born October 2, 1930. She was known throughout her life as Louise Henry. She received a B.S. in business administration from Ohio State University in 1952. She held positions in sales before becoming a secretary in the Student Activities Department of the University of California, Irvine from 1965-1968.
